Hackoustic Presents May 2022

We are very excited to announce, after much Covid related shenannigans, postponement and delay, the next installment of Hackoustic Presents!

We've got a fabulous lineup of artists and music so come along and discover the future of hacked sound, music and experimental instruments.

Saturday 7th May, 8:00 pm, Iklectik Art Lab

Tickets from  £5 available HERE

Sam Topley

Sam Topley is a sound artist, musician, and educator from Leicester (England, UK). She works with textiles to create handmade electronic musical instruments and interactive sound art, including giant pompom musical instruments, knitted or 'yarnbombed' loudspeakers, and 'craftivist' musical instruments with e-textile interfaces. Sam will be presenting and demonstrating her work.

School of noise

Our friends at the School of Noise run online and offline workshops for children, young people and adults encouraging the exploration of music and the science of sound. They'll be performing a selection of their amazing instruments and tech, and talking about their work

Frazer Merrick

Composer, sound designer and all round noise maker, Frazer Merick uses field recording, circuit bending and instrument building to create carnivalesque experiences which explore the act of play. He'll be helping us to discover a hidden world of sound with the Photon Smasher, the handmade microphone that turns light into sound. Frazer will turn flashing bicycle lights in glitchy rhythms and colourful LEDs into sweeping melodies.

Howard's Mystery Instrument

Our regular very special guest Howard Batchen will be bringing along another mystery creation for your delectation. Prepare to be amazed!

Interactive Installations and Instruments

From our very own Vulpestruments and Tim Yates, from the Springy Thing to Sonic Levitation there'll be plenty to get your hands on and make some racket.
