Come along on Saturday afternoon and meet Tom Fox (aka Vulpestruments) and Nick Murray showing some of their projects as well as a demo of the wonderful DADAMachines Automat in the sculpture hall at the V&A. Free Entry
We had a fantastic evening at Machines Room with Johannes Lohbihler, founder of dadamachines, a Berlin-based studio making music machines accessible to everyone. They are ran a Kickstarter campaign for their first product automat toolkit which was 600% funded by the time of the showcase. Amazing work!
We had an amazing time at the Hackoustic Festival this summer. It was our first ever festival, and gave us chance to showcase some of the exciting musicians and artists associated with Hackoustic. Thanks to all those who came and those that performed and showed their work, and especially to the wonderful folk at Machines Room who hosted us for the day and gave us access to their excellent facilities! More media and info to follow, so watch this space!
We had another fantastic session this month with Stan Lewry from the Optosynth team fresh from their appearances at the opening of the new wing of Tate Modern and Music Tech Fest, Berlin. We had demonstrations of their new laser keyboard and laser mixing desk along with a lot of other new toys!
We had a great workshop session this month with Jack Jelfs demonstrating and talking about his sound-art installation Stop / Start which was recently shown at The Conservatoire in Blackheath. The installation is "an ensemble of sculptural units which generate sound [...] to collectively perform a musical composition on an endless, never exactly repeating, loop."
This month's meetup promises to be an exciting one with long-standing members Optonoise demonstrating the latest iteration of their Epsilonograph, the Optomodule. This is an amazing experimental instrument that uses laser beams to generate sound. Come along and have a go making some laser music and visuals! You can also check out some tracks made with the instrument here.
The event is free and open to non-Hackspace members to come along and join in!
We had a fantastic session this month, with Charles Matthews, Tom Fox and Tasos Stamou showing their work or running workshops. There was our best crowd so far and it was great to see everyone joining in, having a great time and make plenty of racket on all the noise makers that were there. If you missed this one, you'll definitely want to catch the next in January which will be just as much fun!
