We had another fantastic session this month with Stan Lewry from the Optosynth team fresh from their appearances at the opening of the new wing of Tate Modern and Music Tech Fest, Berlin. We had demonstrations of their new laser keyboard and laser mixing desk along with a lot of other new toys!

This is our regular monthly hacking session on the second Sunday of every month.
These sessions are an opportunity for you guys to bring your own projects along to the Hackspace and get some work done on them. There’ll be other hackers working on their own projects and everyone’s always keen to help each other out, trouble-shoot problems and give a bit of feedback.

We had a great workshop session this month with Jack Jelfs demonstrating and talking about his sound-art installation Stop / Start which was recently shown at The Conservatoire in Blackheath. The installation is “an ensemble of sculptural units which generate sound […] to collectively perform a musical composition on an endless, never exactly repeating, loop.”

This month’s meetup promises to be an exciting one with long-standing members Optonoise demonstrating the latest iteration of their Epsilonograph, the Optomodule. This is an amazing experimental instrument that uses laser beams to generate sound. Come along and have a go making some laser music and visuals! You can also check out some tracks made with the instrument here.
The event is free and open to non-Hackspace members to come along and join in!

We had an a fantastic and chaotic session this month with the amazing Blanca Regina and Matthias Kispert who ran one of their Material Studies workshops for us. They describe it as “the spontaneous explorations of the sound within matter” and that’s exactly what it turned out to be!
