The Optomodule: February 2016

Epsilonograph

This month’s meetup promises to be an exciting one with long-standing members Optonoise demonstrating the latest iteration of their Epsilonograph, the Optomodule. This is an amazing experimental instrument that uses laser beams to generate sound. Come along and have a go making some laser music and visuals! You can also check out some tracks made with the instrument here.

The event is free and open to non-Hackspace members to come along and join in!

Hacking Session

This is our regular monthly hacking session on the second Sunday of every month.

These sessions are an opportunity for you guys to bring your own projects along to the Hackspace and get some work done on them. There’ll be other hackers working on their own projects and everyone’s always keen to help each other out, trouble-shoot problems and give a bit of feedback.

Gamelan, Pringles and Toys: November 2015

We had a fantastic session this month, with Charles Matthews, Tom Fox and Tasos Stamou showing their work or running workshops. There was our best crowd so far and it was great to see everyone joining in, having a great time and make plenty of racket on all the noise makers that were there. If you missed this one, you’ll definitely want to catch the next in January which will be just as much fun!

Hacking Session: Sunday 15th Nov 2015

Hacking Session

After a bit of thought we’ve decided to try an experiment.

Our end-of-the-month sessions are turning more and more into workshops, so there’s not really the opportunity to get any actual hacking done on our projects.

To address this we’ve decided to have ‘Hacking Sessions’ on the second Sunday of each month which will be a chance for you guys to bring your own projects along and work on them. This’ll hopefully give us all a bit more of a chance to get help from each other and make progress on our projects.

Diddley Bows: Sunday 25th October 2015

We had another great session this month with some new members and hackoustic stalwarts making all sorts of racket and mess in the hackspace. We ran workshops on the Epsilonograph and diddley bow making as well as messing around with nail violins, capacitative sensor MIDI controllers and and a new automated glockenspiel.
